Overview: The Mac Pro uses a memory type called an FB-DIMM (Fully Buffered - Dual Inline Memory Module). Ramjet FB-DIMMs work in all Mac Pro models including the 8-core. There are eight (8) slots, and the FB-DIMMs must be installed in pairs (2x identical) or quads (4x identical). Matched Quads run 5-10% faster, because the memory controller is able to address all four FB-DIMMs as a single 256bit memory bank. The original 1Gig is installed as a pair of two 512mb FB-DIMMs. The system maximum is 32Gigs with the installation of eight (8) 4Gig FB-DIMMs.

667Mhz VS. 800Mhz: To find out whether your Mac Pro uses 667Mhz or 800Mhz FB-DIMMs, go to the Apple Menu on the top left corner of your screen, and select "About This Mac." The Memory line will read either 667Mhz or 800Mhz speed RAM.

Heat Sinks: We use the only heat sink that is certified by Apple for use in the Mac Pro. Other brands use heat sink types that cause overheating leading to increased fan usage and slower performance. Our heat sink runs 7 degrees cooler than the folded plate design, and 15 degrees cooler than the flat spreader design of heat sink.

Matched Modules: Ramjet kits contain a matched pair of FB-DIMMs. The kit will consist of identical brand/model/spec IC's, with matching batch numbers. Our memory will also mate perfectly with Apple original FB-DIMMs.
